Implementing the Fashion Checker

In 2019 Clean Clothes Campaign launched an EU-funded project to shine a light on the wages in fashion supply chains. The Fashion Checker seeks to make brands accountable for their promises on living wages in their supply chains. One of our biggest challenges was how to connect facility-level data with data on brand commitments. WikiRate proved to be the missing piece of the puzzle. The platform acts as a one-stop shop where we can house all of our brand, facility and supply chain relationship data and, using the WikiRate API, feed this data into the Fashion Checker tool. The Fashion Checker tool and its accompanying data has been accessed over a quarter of a million times and used by worker representatives in Indonesia, India, Bulgaria and Croatia to advocate for better pay.
